On the 1st of November 1994, the State Government handed to Southern Cross Care 129 aged care bed approvals and the 5 garden units plus the 1861 building of the St John's park complex with a brief to upgrade.

A 3-stage refurbishment program was initiated to enhance the living environment at Rosary Gardens. $11 million has been spent over 8 years, creating a magnificent facility and honouring the commitment to the State Government to upgrade the Garden units to the highest contemporary residential aged care standard.

• Final refurbishment stage completed November 2002.
• Rosary Gardens recently achieved 3-year accreditation to 2006.
• Rosary Gardens currently employs 200 people to provide care for our residents.
• Rosary Gardens is set in a beautiful garden setting with all residents able to appreciate the lovely and peaceful surrounds, reflecting the philosophy of allowing residents to maintain their dignity and lifestyle.
• Rosary Gardens is the largest of Southern Cross Care's aged care facilities in Tasmania.
